"We were very busy with all of the celebrations, the
wedding, so many things to do, etc – and the house was the
perfect place to escape it all, relax, sit in the sun, take a
stroll, curl up in a chair, bake a few cookies, etc.
The Akahai Ani is a very special place to stay and we all felt
very honored to enjoy it so."

Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) Shankar and Vidya,
for such a wonderful respite away from the norm. We had a much
needed R&R and found our oasis by renting your home so rich
in history of the old Koloa Sugar Plantation days.
We were greeted every morning by beautiful bird songs and the
gentle morning rain that did not last. There is this one bird
who has a unique and distinct tune of it's own. What an
incredible song it sang when Jim brewed fresh Kona coffee in the
1920's historical kitchen that once serviced the sugar
plantation manager's family of long ago.
The stress and demands of the day literally melt away by walking
through your manicured estate, or enjoying the cool gentle
island breeze ( the
Hawaiian name so apropos: akahai`ani or gentle breeze) by
sitting quietly in the Balinese Ben Gong gazebo only to be
transfixed upon natural beauty beset before us. The backdrop of
the nearby mountains is food for the soul. Relaxing at the very
private pool right out the front yard was a plus. We also simply
enjoyed just sitting on the back porch from the master bedroom
with our cup of Java or a favorite read.
The Royal Poincianas (red blossom tree) is in it's fullest glory
and the mango trees are abundant at this time of the year. We
sliced up mango for breakfast or a snack. What a treat.
Thank you for having the amenities of a fax machine and
Internet connection . . .very convenient for working executives
as we are.
Alas, it is time to go . . . but,
we shall definitely return to what we now call our special
Akahai`ani.
Ahui hou (until we meet again),
